The 72nd edition of the Sanremo Festival marked the triumph of great Italian music, but also of the uniqueness of the made in Italy style. The spotlights of the Ariston Theater shone a new light on great Italian fashion and its artisanal side. The sartorial quality and attention to detail of leather garments has, in fact, won over many artists who have chosen to wear total looks in leather or almost leather for their performances at Sanremo 2022.
The Festival opened with Achille Lauro who, with his provocative and irreverent charm, chose to challenge conventions by appearing on stage shirtless and barefoot, wearing a pair of Gucci super tight leather pants. Then, Rkomi who every night sported designer Etro biker-inspired looks with leather pants and Texas boots. During the third evening, embellished with black leather gloves and in the final blazer over shirt, pants and Texan boots that decreed the victory of real Italian leather.
The red sleeves with leather flowers that Michele Bravi swayed to the music reminded us that leather is not only rock, but also glamorous and fluid. At Sanremo the genderless fashion was, in fact, on stage, with no limits but great desire to dare. Showing itself aggressive on the outside and romantic on the inside.
Just like the hyper futuristic leather look worn by The List Representative, during the cover night. Silver leather for Veronica and black leather for Dario who with their sophisticated looks stole the show from Cosmo, Margherita Vicario and Ginevra, on stage with them to sing Be My Baby.
Finally, Donatella Rettore who on the third night proved that leather looks are ageless. The black leather jacket, palazzo pants and transparent top embellished with stones are a true ode to beauty.
The edition, won by Blanco and Mahmood, marked the triumph of a fluid and genderless fashion that loves real Italian leather and its creative flair. A passion that does not only interest singers and celebrities, but has become part of our daily life and the way we dress.
